Our kitchen renovation is almost complete and we were able to move back in and start using it last week!! We are just waiting on backsplash and some dry wall touch ups now. So far, I have been using all the decor we had before renovation and I like it!! We had a lot of gifts from our wedding that we never unpacked because we knew we were going to renovate our kitchen and wanted to wait to use that stuff then!!! The one thing that I knew I wanted to find were bigger, wide mouth flour and sugar jars/containers. I liked the looks of my old ones, but they just weren't easy to use when cooking and baking.
Since our kitchen has gold metal accents, I was looking for glass jars with gold lids. Literally COULDN'T find them ANYWHERE, ugh!!! Or at least that matched the aesthetic of the room. So, when on Pinterest, like anyone would do when they are stuck in a rut and needs some inspiration, I found this awesome blog post from Sincerely Sara B Blog. She was genius and spray painted her silver lids gold. And her canisters just so happen to be the exact ones I had my eye on!! Can you say meant to be?!?!?
Gold Kitchen Canisters
I purchased mine from Target, but they also have them on Amazon Prime!! I love how wide they are so you can fit your measuring cup in to scoop the sugar and flour out. So easy when cooking and baking!! Plus, they are so inexpensive and air tight!! I bought the same brand of spray paint that Sara suggested in her blog post, but I bought the wrong color. Typical me, so embarrassing. Luckily, my husband remembered that we had some gold spray paint in the basement from a previous project and away we went!!!
These turned out exactly as I wanted!! LOVE them!! Just make sure you're careful not to get paint on the inside of the canister lid because the spray paint is not food safe. We let them dry for a few hours then put them in the kitchen. Also - these are the 64oz jars. They come in a few different sizes and these were the best fit for our shelves. If you want them on your counter then I suggest a bigger size!
